Kona Outdoor Circle presents its annual Pua Plantasia, a gala party
with silent and live auctions (with the always-entertaining Pat

This annual event held at Kailua Pier celebrates hula and music.
This showcase free festival invites visitors and residents to enjoy
an evening of special hula halau and well known slack key guitar
artists. The community event also funds Kailua Pier improvements
with a silent auction. A "Taste of Kona" will feature
local restaurants, including Fish Hopper, Kuakini Cookhouse, Taeng
on Thai, Splasher's, and Pancho and Leftys. A Hawaiian blessing
begins at 5:00 pm with the arrival of canoe clubs and lighting of
the tiki torches. A firedancer lightens up the night as the event
ends at 10:00pm.
"POPS MENAGERIE" CONCERTS

15th ANNUAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL –

This festival showcases the annual blooming of Waimea's cherry trees
along Church Row Park, and the Japanese tradition of viewing them,
known as "hanami". In conjunction with the Paniolo Preservation
Society's Waiomina Centennial Celebration, the 2008 festival commemorates
the Big Isle's cowboys of Japanese descent. From 9am to 3pm, a host
of activities will sprawl eastward from the Parker Ranch Historic
Homes on Mamalahoa Hwy. 190 to the Hawaiian Homestead FarmerÕs

"Annie Get Your Gun" is a musical loosely based on the
life of Annie Oakley, who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her
husband, Frank Butler. The music and lyrics were written by Irving
Berlin, and the show was first staged on Broadway in 1946, directed
by Joshua Logan and starring Ethel Merman. A 1999 Broadway revival
introduced a reworked book and new orchestration which starred Bernadette
Peters and Tom Wopat and won the Tony for best musical revival.

HONORING THE MEDICINE: NATIVE AMERICAN
HEALING WITH KENNETH COHEN

In this dynamic, information-packed, and entertaining talk, Kenneth
Cohen will share cross-cultural perspectives on the principles,
ethical values, and practice of Native American medicine. He will
explore Native American medicine not as a thing of the past but
as a living and still evolving tradition. He will discuss common
misconceptions and stereotypes promoted by media, Hollywood, and
the highly "imaginative" New Age Movement. Information
will be presented from traditional and modern perspectives. Interspersed
with songs and stories, Ken will share his understanding of health
and disease, the purpose of common healing methods, such as counseling,
vision-seeking, and ritual, and the connection between western and
indigenous science. He will also explore the connection between
Native American and other forms of indigenous spirituality, including
