Sharing the beach with resident sea turtles is a daily highlight, and during winter months savor the opportunity to view and listen to the grandeur of the visiting humpback whales from the living room, lanai and backyard.

Choose your dining experience, from the beautiful teak indoor dining table to the comfortable and roomy environs of the ocean side lanai, which extends the length of the main house. Here you will find a beautiful outdoor dining table, cozy lounge chairs, and the pune'e, a large built-in lounging area which can be used for outdoor sleeping for those more adventurous souls.

Each bedroom has its own outside entrance complete with full bathroom. The large master bedroom, with king bed, opens out to the ocean through a sliding glass door and onto its own lanai. One of the other three bedrooms opens out to the ocean and onto its own lanai as well.

Puako Beach Vacation Home 3Bd/3Ba from $765/nt. (sleeps 6)

This Puako beach front vacation home was recently completed in July 2006 and designed as a primary Big Island residence which is plain to see from the exquisite plantation-style design, attention to detail, amenities (high-end gourmet kitchen and outdoor hot tub) and quality furnishings. Three bedrooms (two with queens, and one with two twins and a twin bunk), three bath, 2300 square feet plus 1000 square feet of lanai. 22-foot high ceilings in the great room, high ceilings in all of the bedrooms, expansive windows and cool ocean breezes welcome you to this ocean front retreat. An experienced local realtor noted this as her favorite lanai on the entire Hawaii island. From the lanai, it feels like you can touch the water which is just 25 feet away.

Located in the heart of magical Puako, the only non-gated/resort beach front community on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Puako is truly an Old Hawaiian Beach Town, which feels far from the resorts and tourists, but is an easy drive to world class restaurants, hotels, beaches, golf courses, and conveniences (Kona Airport is only 30 minutes away, Waimea - 15 minutes away.)

The Green Sea Turtles call Puako home and are seen daily in front of the house. In the winter months the humpback whales come amazingly close to shore in Puako with their new offspring. The ocean access in front of the house is the easiest in Puako to launch kayaks, go scuba diving, snorkeling or just play in the waves. Most locals consider Puako the best scuba diving and snorkeling on the Big Island. In the winter months swells make the beach park at the end of the road a fine surf and boogie board spot. Five minutes away is Hapuna Beach a spectacular white sand beach - but you probably won’t find much reason to leave the house.
